“What is your worth?” follows a young woman Elisa in a world that has been changed since women took over. Men have become inferior after the war generations ago. A lot has been accomplished, women were able to stop wars and end pollution. Even found how to end hunger and poverty.
Elisa her best friend, Ariana, has managed to convince her mother to let her buy her first male at an auction. When Elisa joins them, she comes across a male that is wild and looking scared. She tries to forget about him but when the auction starts, and he is left with only one bid she presses the button and to her shock wins the bid.
The story follows Elisa first steps into owning a male and learning about his past. Jamel has not been raised in the normal way males are raised and together they learn to navigate this new world. She soon learns that the world isn’t as great and perfect as she perceived it growing up and through Jamel’s eyes she learns some of the hidden darker sides in the world. When all seems to go well, disaster strikes and she stands to lose her male because of laws and rules that bind their society, is she able to stand up and fight for him even if it means going against her friend or will she give up and lose him forever. In the end she get’s him back and there is a set up to book 2 where she will find a group of young women at the university that think like her and question society
