Dissatisfied with work, and disillusioned with her future, Nell dreams of a more meaningful way of living, She imagines escaping from the city to the English countryside, picturing a blissful, slower way of life, in a cottage with roses climbing around the door. By a freak chance, the opportunity arises to turn dream to reality. It’s a big step, and unsure, she hesitates at first, then decides to seize the chance to change her life. It won’t be easy, but she is determined to try.
But it’s not roses all the way, especially when she realises she is a thorn in the side of her handsome new neighbour.

A rainstorm forces Nell Reed to shelter in a small-town auction house as bidding begins for a rundown cottage. Dreamily, she imagines living there …
… and accidentally places the winning bid, infuriating broodingly handsome businessman Jack Sanderson, who wants the cottage for himself. He offers to buy it from her, but Nell rejects his money.
Saying goodbye to her old life, including Hugo – who wants to be more than a friend – Nell moves into the cottage, only to discover Jack is her neighbour. He’s even more attractive than she remembered, but infuriatingly remains convinced she’ll flee back to the city.
Despite being on her own, with no job, dwindling savings, and the cottage to renovate, Nell determines to prove him wrong. But he’s the most alluring man she has met, and when he begins to help her, she realises her biggest problem is a growing attraction for him, a feeling which seems to be reciprocated. But can she trust him? What does he really want?
